Assignment 2: Contour Line

    For the second assignment I chose to create contour lines of various different objects found within my household. I tried my hardest to draw each of these items in one continuous line with different weight and thicknesses throughout in hopes of making the item more prominent. I also tried to avoid using a ruler for most of these because when I was further examining Elsworth Kelly's works i noticed that a vast majority of them do not have perfectly straight clean lines. I also noticed that with a lot of his you can also see lines overlapping and ends of lines sticking out at some parts. This just goes to show how with these pieces its not about being perfectly precise but rather more of a going with the flow kind of attitude. I found that I struggled quite a bit when it came yo using the entire space and drawing a smaller item to fit the scale of a larger one. Overall I really enjoyed drawing these and challenging myself to go outside of my comfort zone!
